Fogging Scope

Is the fog you’re seeing on the internal or external surfaces of the scope?

If it’s on the outside, that’s completely normal—glass can fog when exposed to cold temperatures and rapid changes in ambient conditions. For example, moving a scope directly from a freezer into a warm environment (or vice versa) will cause immediate external fogging. Unfortunately, we cannot control these external weather effects on glass.

If the fogging is happening inside the scope, that is a concern. When we state that a scope is fog proof or waterproof, it specifically refers to protecting the internals of the scope from fogging or moisture.

Tech Note:

• Internal fogging needs to be send in for repair. 

• External fogging, we recommend using a lens cloth to clear the fog or a lens pen.
