Burris XTR® PS — Precision Riflescope (KB)
Models & Item #s: 3.3–18×50 mm (Item 201220) | 5.5–30×56 mm (Item 201230)
Tech Notes:
- Don’t use rechargeable CR123 (16340) cells. The scope is not designed for them and damage can occur.
- Level matters. For best long-range performance, level the optic on the rifle within ≤ 0.5° of cant before zeroing.
- Angle Compensation: If your rangefinder already applies angle compensation, disable the XTR PS Angle Compensation to avoid double-correction.
- Digital Level: If needed, recalibrate the on-screen level with the app after physically leveling the rifle/scope.
The XTR PS is factory-set with a 20 MOA internal elevation offset. To access the full usable elevation adjustment range, we recommend pairing the XTR PS with a 20 MOA scope base. Using a flat (0 MOA) base will reduce the available elevation travel and may limit long-range dialing capability.

2) Itemized Components (Product Map)
| Item # | Component | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Eyepiece / Diopter Ring | Focus the reticle to your eye (quick-glance method). |
| 2 | Power (Magnification) Ring | Zoom control for FOV vs. detail. |
| 3 | Side Parallax / Focus | Focus/align image plane to reticle (parallax removal). |
| 4 | PĒK Elevation Knob | Clickless high-speed mechanical turret with digital position readout (≈1/30 MIL resolution, ≤19 MIL/turn). |
| 5 | Zero-Turn Stop | Fast return to your sight-in; set after zero. |
| 6 | Windage Knob (capped) | 0.1 MIL grads; limited rotation (±4.6 MIL). Includes exposed knob option. |
| 7 | Objective Bell / Lens | Primary light-gathering lens (50 mm or 56 mm). |
3) Mounting (34 mm Rings)
| Topic | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Ring/Base Type | Use quality 34 mm rings (e.g., Burris Signature XTR) on quality bases (e.g., Xtreme Tactical). |
| Leveling | Level scope to rifle at ≤ 0.5° cant before zeroing (crucial for long-range). |
| Parallax Start | Set parallax near target distance (3.3–18×: 25 yds→∞; 5.5–30×: 20 yds→∞), then fine-tune. |
| Follow Manufacturer Torque | Torque rings/bases per the hardware maker’s spec; re-check after first range day. |
4) Battery & Power
- Type: 1× CR123A (powers HUD, reticle, Bluetooth).
- Install: Observe the polarity sticker inside the compartment; keep the cap oriented correctly while tightening.
- Storage: For 1 month storage, remove the battery (settings are retained).
- Compatibility: Do not use rechargeable 16340 cells.
5) Zeroing & Turrets (Mechanical + Digital)
| Control | How it works |
|---|---|
| Elevation (PĒK) | Mechanical, clickless turret with lasered 0.1 MIL marks; internal digital sensor tracks ≈1/30 MIL. Up to 19 MIL per turn. |
| Zero-Turn Stop | After you sight-in, loosen the three cap set screws, rotate to “0” (hitting the stop), retighten firmly (don’t overtighten). |
| Windage | Factory capped; exposed knob included. Limited travel ±4.6 MIL from zero. Clockwise = LEFT; counterclockwise = RIGHT. 0.1 MIL grads. |
| Digital Zero (HUD) | With the mechanical knob at “0,” use the app/menu to zero the digital elevation readout so both match. |
6) HUD & Menus (What You See)
- Primary display: Dialed elevation shown in yards, meters, or MIL (select in app).
- Wind tools: User-set wind speed/direction with distance-accurate holds.
- Digital level: Choose Bubble/Ball styles; adjustable sensitivity.
- Density Altitude (DA): Quick-select table (−5,000 to 16,000 ft in 1,000-ft steps; range adjustable in app).
- Angle Compensation: Line-of-sight distance in HUD; applies angle correction if enabled.
- Battery meter & Match timer: On-screen status and countdown timer (M-button: start/pause/reset).
7) App Connect & Ballistics (BurrisConnect)
- Hold M for 2 s to open the menu → select APP CONNECT.
- In the app, pair the scope, then build your Rifle + Ballistics profile (ammo, MV, BC, DA, temp, zero).
- Upload Profile → HUD shows PAIRED-UPDATING.
- With the mechanical knob at “0,” tap Zero Elevation Knob in the app.
- Re-upload whenever you change ballistic data; APP CONNECT screen displays the active table name.

10) Quick Troubleshooting
- Digital zero mismatch: Re-run Zero Elevation Knob (HUD/app) with mechanical knob at “0”.
- Ballistics off at distance: Use app “truing” (adjust MV/BC) and re-upload profile.
- Insufficient adjustment: Check receiver/barrel alignment; consider Signature rings with Pos-Align inserts.
- Blurred image/reticle: Verify diopter & parallax focus; ensure target distance matches parallax setting.
