How to Set Up and Sight In Your Burris Oracle 2
Introduction
This guide will walk you through the complete setup and sight-in process for your Burris Oracle 2 bow sight and laser rangefinder. Follow these steps carefully to mount, align, and calibrate your Oracle 2 for optimal accuracy in the field.
What’s in the Box?
- Oracle 2 bow sight with laser pointer
- Velcro for mounting the Push-To-Talk (PTT) cable
- Screws for mounting the bow sight to your bow riser
- Allen wrench
- Sight-in target for the laser rangefinder
- Optional auxiliary peep assembly
Step 1: Mounting the Oracle 2 to Your Bow Riser
Note: Bridge-Lock mounting systems are not compatible with the Oracle 2.
Attach the bow sight:
- Use the included flathead 10-24 screws and allen wrench. You can mount the sight in any of the three positions on the mounting arm to adjust height based on your 20-yard pin point of aim.
- For a lower point of aim, use the higher holes on the mount.
- For a higher point of aim, use the front or back mounting holes.
- The two center screw positions generally provide the best fit.
Install the optional auxiliary peep assembly:
- Sandwich the peep mount between the riser and the bow sight.
- Ensure the wing nut is on the outside and the gold nut faces inward toward your arrow shelf.
Step 2: Mounting the PTT Button and Cable
Use the included velcro to position the PTT button wherever it's most comfortable when at full draw. Common placements include:
- Top of the riser (operated by index finger)
- Lower on the riser (operated by pinky)
- Either side of the handle
Secure the PTT cable along the riser using zip ties, electrical tape, or routing it through riser cutouts to avoid snagging on limbs.
Use the included cord wrap to take up slack in the cable.
Step 3: Sight-In the 20-Yard Pin

Loosen the locking knob on the sight housing.
Use the micro-adjust mechanism on the mounting arm to raise or lower the sight housing. The mounting arm has laser-etched reference marks showing about 1 inch of travel at 20 yards.
Shoot a group at 20 yards and adjust until your arrows consistently hit the target where your 20-yard pin is aimed.
Step 4: Align the Laser Rangefinder Module to the 20-Yard Pin
Use the included sight-in target with aiming rings:
- Place your 20-yard pin in the center ring.
- Right-handed shooters align the laser pointer to the right-handed red circle. Left-handed shooters use the left circle.
At 10 yards:
- Draw your bow and aim your 20-yard pin and string peep at the center aiming ring.
- Press the PTT button to activate the laser pointer on the rangefinder.
- Observe where the laser hits and use the sight’s click adjustments (about ¼ inch per click at 10 yards) to bring the laser dot into the correct aiming circle.
Confirm at 20 yards:
- Step back to 20 yards and confirm laser alignment.
- Make minor final adjustments as necessary.

Step 5: Truing the Oracle 2 (Calibrating for Your Arrow’s Ballistic Trajectory)
Turn on the sight:
- Press the PTT button to activate the sight.
Enter the menu:
- Hold down the “M” (menu) button for 2 seconds.
- The display will show AS1 (Arrow Selection 1). You can store profiles for two arrows; select AS1 and press S (select).
Set Select Range 1 (SR1):
- The sight will prompt for SR1 at any yardage 30 or beyond.
- At approximately 35 yards, aim using the recommended dot and shoot several arrows.
- The blinking dot shows the original aiming point; the solid dot is the new aiming point tracking your arrow group.
- Once satisfied, press S to save.
Set Select Range 2 (SR2):
- Move at least 10 yards beyond SR1 (e.g., 45 yards).
- Aim using the suggested dot and shoot a group.
- Adjust elevation with the arrow keys if needed and confirm by shooting more arrows.
- Save when satisfied by pressing S.
Optional: Set Select Range 3 and 4 (SR3 and SR4):
- These points provide additional calibration for longer-range or more precise shooting.
- Each must be at least 10 yards beyond the previous range (e.g., SR3 at 59 yards, SR4 at 69 yards).
- You can skip these by pressing S to exit the truing routine.
